The European pine shoot moth, Rhyacionia buoliana (Schiffermueller), was introduced to North America in 1914 and British Columbia in 1925. The shoot moth was found in this province on imported nursery stock. Populations have estab-lished in ornamental trees in parts of the Vancouver, Kamloops and Nelson forest regions. Significant damage on native pines has never been recorded.
